I realized that my tired old eyes just would not cut it with my Aimpoint T1 red dot on my AR at any sort of distance shooting so I just sold it!
So, I now want a decent scope to replace it - any one have any suggestions please?
Cost is a factor; I wont buy cheap but neither am I going to lay out the thick end of a grand on a scope either so something in the $400 to $500 range.
I was looking at the Nikon M223 - its less than the $400 level but seems to have a good reputation with 3Gun shooters (which is what I would be using it for)
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I wish I could offer any kind of recommendation, but I've never used magnification on an AR-15. Only one of mine have any kind of optics at all and that's only a TruGlo red dot. On an M1A, I'm using a SuperSniper 10x42 from www.SWFA.com and it is a beast of a scope. Assuming the other SWFA SuperSniper scopes are of the same level of craftsmanship, you would love having one on your AR.

It looks like www.SWFA.com also carries the Nikon M-223 optics, so check 'em out.

Oh dear!

It wasn't my fault I tell you, honest

Fully intending to purchase a $400 scope this afternoon I managed to walk out of my local emporium with a Trijicon ACOG !

What a scope; quite fantastic but at that price I would expect it to make me coffee in the mornings!

The ACOG’s are internally-adjustable, compact telescopic sights with tritium illuminated reticle patterns for use in low light or at night. The ACOG’s combine traditional, precise distance marksmanship with close-in aiming speed. Every feature of its design was chosen for a single purpose: to provide increased hit potential in all lighting conditions.

Take a look at the glass etched reticle low power variables. The etched reticle doesnt require batteries to use in daylight which is another advantage

I cant do aimpoints or eotechs either due to astigmatism unless I a looking at the dot co-witnessed through a peep site.

Burris Tac30 and Leatherwood CMR are on my short list of optics.
