My first Home Defense standby

This was my first ever firearm, a 4" blued 357 magnum Taurus Model 66. I bought it used from a police supply store for about $215. I cut my teeth on .38 special and kept it stoked with seven rounds of .357 magnum for home defense.

It handled hundreds of rounds of both .38 special and .357 mag with no problems. I really think this was a great choice for an affordable HD or versatile woods gun. I wouldn't hesitate to trust my life to it today. Taurus has a winner in this model.

Thanks for your review Rod! I actually have one of these on my certificate to purchase in the future however it'll have to be the long barrel version with the extra bit coming off the grip because of the silly UK laws.

I wish they were as cheap over in the UK! Very jealous indeed! I think they're around £500/$800 here.

I LOVE my 66, I have about 550 rounds through it and the only problem I had was an over expanded .357 casing that needed to be pushed out with a punch and a tack hammer. I have the 6" and plan to use it and some 200gr Corbon Hunters for deer hunting this year. at 35 yards I can keep a consistent 1.5" grouping.

Automan, you should add a review to this listing!

I sold my taurus 66 when I was getting out of .357 magnum/38 special in favor of 9mm/45acp autoloaders. I was eyeballing another one a few days ago because I miss my wheelguns.
