I had been contemplating a gun safe purchase and was tempted to go with a lockable 5-gun cabinet to be just big enough to hold my firearms. Over the weekend, a relative's house was burglarized while they were vacationing out of town and they lost thousands in jewelry and rifles. I made my mind up real quick after that, because my valuables are now protected for the cost of one good rifle.

A word of caution: until you've tried to move 600 pounds of dead weight, you have no idea how heavy it really is. My hand truck was not up to the job.

Now, about the safe. It's HUGE inside and is described as holding 32 guns. I don't know if that's true and I am not likely to ever have that many guns, but it is big and roomy. Despite the size and weight and all of the pushing I had to do to get it in my house, the thick steel walls never flexed a bit. This safe is SOLID.

The safe includes not only the two 110V electrical receptacles on the inside, but also a USB port and a RJ-45 network cable port. This means you can put a NAS (network attached storage) device inside your safe and plug it in to electricity and the network port. Connect the outside network port to your home router or switch and you're in business for being able to back up your computer files. You KNOW those files will be safe in the event of a burglary or fire that damages your computer. This is a brilliant feature that should be advertised more heavily.
