Extremely ExcitedPosted by: Killingemo in MyBlog on Jul 17, 2011 |
Okay, so first off.. this is (a copy of (lol)) my first blog... ever... So, I finally got the PA Game Commission permit to shoot on PUBLIC land. But, I won't get into my thoughts on that. Yes, they have rules on 3 rounds for rifles and 6 for handguns. But, I can get past that. So, I am finally going to be able to shoot my most recently purchased firearms. But, that is not all. I have finally talked my daughter into going to the range with me. She's 12 and has never fired a weapon. She hates guns and doesn't want to shoot. She just want's to be with me. Her mother grounded her, so this is her only way to get out of the house for a few hours. But, I'm hoping that I can get her interested in wanting to fire at least once. She may not want to fire at all. I am not going to push her to do anything that she does not want to. But, this is a step in the right direction, I think.
RON L here
My Advice (For what it's worth) go slow, let her see it and Try it, enforce allthe safety rules of course often they 9Young Folks) will get the Bug and become more interested and enjoy that time with ya? if not, well, at least ya tried and had some time with her? Start with 22's of Course, unless she has other experiences? Go slow, go steady and see if she doesn't turn out liking it?
We got there, and there were other people shooting. I waited my turn and put up my target. Which, turned out was way too small of a target for this range. I fired a few rounds from the WASR. I am definitely going to need to get the tool to adjust the front sight post. No impact, No idea.
The way that the range is set up, we all have to agree to switch from rifles to handguns. So, we went to handguns (6 rounds max on this range). I fired 6 rounds through all the magazines with my Ruger P90. I was pleasantly surprised with this gun. Very accurate, low recoil and just fun to shoot. *I'll be posting my review after this blog update*
As always, my 2nd Gen Glock 22 was a dream to shoot. I love this gun.
I started talking to the other shooters. All were extremely nice people. I'm glad to have met them. One guy was active Army and is now Army reserve. And there was a young couple shooting as well. As it turns out, this was her first time ever firing a weapon. So, I let her run a few mags out of my Ruger P90 and my Glock 22. She loved it. She did flag me a few times, but I remained polite about it. She's new. It is really nice to see new people learning weapons safety and enjoying throwing rounds down range.
Then, I took my daughter to Dairy Queen for some burgers and ice cream. Even though her mother grounded her, Daddy still has to let her have some fun
