Itching to shootPosted by Automan21k in Second Amendment , guns , firearms , blog , article |
I imagine that many people on this site are in the same situation I am, I live in a suburban neighborhood, houses on all sides, and any time I want to go shoot I have to go out to a range, run to a relative's house who has land or, just sit at home and stew about how much I wish I had a place to shoot.
The most recent issue with this setup I have found is that if I want to go to my parents house to shoot (I actually have a small 35 yard shooting range set up there) that even though I am 29, my father gives me hell for buying guns and ammo. Granted, my father is the type that thinks one gun for hunting is enough, and if you can't hunt with a gun than it is useless. Yes, my father and I have never got along. He is an extremely religious penny pincher who believes a reasonable person keeps their head down, has kids, goes to work and teaches their kids to be just like them.... and it is safe to say that I am not that.

Anti GunnersPosted by Kotty in Second Amendment , guns , firearms , blog , article |
Have you ever wondered why the anti-gun people hate guns so much? I've always associated firearms with freedom and liberty, do you think they really just hate the idea of a free thinking person? Someone who isn't going to buy into all the political correctness BS? I've spent most of my life being told that "You need to be careful about what you say" or "You can't just go around telling people about how much you like GUNS!" Well, I'm hear to tell you, when I pull the trigger, it doesn't matter the make, model or caliber, I smell the sweet scent of freedom as the cloud of burnt gun powder floats by my face. Without out these great tools our liberty would only be protected by the whims of the elites and we know how generous people with all the power are.....ask the Jews, the Tibetan monks, the hundreds of thousands of political refugees from dozens of countries in North Africa and dozens of other examples I can think of. Somebody needs to explain to the anti-gunners that the only reason they can run around protesting is because someone with a gun fought and died for their right to free speech.....I for one will never allow the sacrifices my old brothers and sisters made go to waste, I try and take people who have never shot a firearm out and let them experience the fun and camaraderie there is in the shooting sports. My latest lesson in the tools of liberty was when I took my Chinese exchange student shooting, he had a great time, but requested we don't take any pictures of him with a firearm....he didn't want to cause any trouble when he went back. He's gone back now, but I'll never forget the look on his face when he first held a .22 rifle, there was a look of fear...until he pulled the trigger and the apple he was aiming at exploded! The grin was contagious, we all laughed and cheered as he blew up a half dozen more targets. I'm sure he'll always remember his experience, I told him," Son, that feeling....thats Freedom"

July 4th 1776Posted by Killingemo in Second Amendment , guns , firearms , blog , article |
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independence_Day_(United_States)
Many people do not truly understand what this day is all about. It's true meaning has been lost, except for a very few, over the last 235 years. It was the birth of our nation. It is a day that Colonists decided to put their lives at risk to become a nation of Americans. It set into motion every freedom we, as Americans, enjoy today. Declaring our independence from tyranny.

ME in a nutshellPosted by edsworld001 in Second Amendment , guns , firearms , blog , article |
My name is Ed, I'm a 49yr old white male with long hair. Ex-Army. I'm married, with no living kids. I'm an old biker. Been riding my whole life. I drink, I cuss, I smoke, I shoot guns and I ride. Sometimes all at the same time.
I have ZERO tolerance for bigots. If you bash any group of people, ( Drinkers, Smokers, Gays, Blacks, Muslims, Fat people)ANY GROUP OF PEOPLE, in my presence, I will be in your face.
That being said, I love guns and shooting. If i have ammo I'm shooting and I shoot until it's all gone.

Trying new things..Posted by adoerr in Second Amendment , guns , firearms , blog , article |
My first blog written a few weeks ago, and featured by GirlsGuide2Guns..
Last week was pretty fun! Being pretty new to shooting, I decided a good thing to do would be to go through the NRA Marksmanship ratings, one by one. When one of the guys from the club emailed me to see if I wanted to go shooting Thursday afternoon, I jumped at the chance because I’m not all that comfortable being there alone yet. I let my 14-year-old daughter tag along with me, it would be her first real afternoon at the range.
Geared up with my paper plates and my trusty Buck Mark Camper .22 pistol, I set my table to the required 15 foot mark for my Pro Marksman rating. I needed 10 plates, with 5 shots each, with none closer to the edge than a half-inch. I accomplished this easily and earned my first rating quickly!
One of the other gentleman from my club, whom I hadn’t met before that day mentioned that I should join them on Sunday for the clubs Bulls-eye Competition Shoot. “Me? Seriously? No, I’m too new at this..” His reply? “You’re a natural, see you Sunday..”
My husband and I went down on Sunday, and they talked me into trying it. Gotta say, I had a lot of fun, and, I did OK, even scoring some 10s! I was the only female there (I think I may be the only female in the club!) and I was the only person not shooting with a Red Dot sight, just me and my Buck Mark’s iron sights. We had to shoot one-handed. I’d never done that before. And the targets? They were 25 yards away, yeah, never done that before either.
I’ll go back and join them again on another Sunday. You have to attend 4 shoots to qualify for the prizes, and while I won’t be winning any prizes..I’ll be ready for the next series of shoots later this year! Now to find time to earn my NRA Marksman rating..that’s my next goal!

Ok, since NJ has this asinine one handgun every 30 days law, because I only “need” one handgun every 30 days, I have decided to accept the challenge. I will buy one gun a month.
To see the list of guns and to vote on what the 13th gun will be, head over to my blog at www.gunguynj.com/?p=99 and leave a comment.

I've a blog already...Posted by serr8d in Second Amendment , guns , firearms , blog , article |
...albeit a small one, comparatively speaking. Occasionally I swerve from covering national politics to posting about guns, gun rights and especially about those who would take our rights away from us.
More on that later.
Some of my favorite toys...just before cleaning.
